Our online community
These forums allow people with lived experience of distress and/or mental health issues (consumers and/or carers) and our allies to connect and contribute together. This is a place to come together and talk about what matters to us, provides an opportunity to inform our advocacy, peer and leadership efforts as well as share resources for driving systemic change.
We are the people who speak up and we stand up; or we are working out how to do that in ways that are good for us. We are the changemakers.
These forums are not focused on providing individual support. The SANE Forums provide a platform for seeking and providing support, asking questions and sharing stories. They have forums for people with lived experience as well as carers.
LELAN is looking for five people (consumers and carers) with lived experience of distress/crisis, supporting a loved one in crisis, or being bereaved by suicide to be a part of the Project Advisory Group (PAG) for our latest project.
The Learning from Lived Experience (LfLE) Project involves interviewing people and creating shareable video and written content. In addition to the resources created, information obtained through the project will be used by LELAN in our advocacy efforts for supporting people experiencing distress and through crisis better.
The conversations will focus on times of crisis/distress and any support received. We want to know what helped, what harmed, and what people hope for in the future around these experiences and the types of help or support that is available. This specific focus was chosen as people often share that service responses in times of crisis are inadequate and, frequently, even compound the distress they are experiencing.
This is a six-month project beginning January 2020.
Access more information and link to the Expression on Interest form here. Applications close Friday January 31st.
